THINGS TO NOTE - Wanted to make a concertina as I have done it before - Concertina eradicates middle margins, so spreads can go across two pages - Middle Turkish map fold would need printing by the Print Bureau and on lighter paper - Waterfall card would be printed on same lighter paper and constructed from scraps

Creating the Book Illustrations

INITIAL IDEAS - Grey gouache paint and lino - Character and background to be in a light, dream-like grey gouache wash, both in the same environment - Cat and horse characters to be in solid black and white lino prints that contrast the delicate paintings - Illustrate that they are not of the same world

Writing and Designing

WRITING THE STORY Wrote story in full, but decided it was too bulky and wanted to make a layout like that of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse . Chose to only write dialogue
